Nearly 149 suspected cases of diarrhoea have been reported from a residential complex in Dabolim, triggering concerns over possible water contamination.
Residents of the Prabhu Violetta building raised the alarm, alleging that borewell water supplied within the complex may be polluted. Acting swiftly, authorities launched a multi-agency investigation to assess the situation.

Bhagwant Karmali, Deputy Collector of Mormugao, stated that the health department is closely monitoring the situation and has advised residents to take necessary precautions.
Teams from the Health Department, Goa State Pollution Control Board, and the Food and Drugs Administration Goa have collected water samples from borewells, sumps, and storage tanks within the complex for testing.
Medical officials have also collected stool and blood samples from affected individuals to rule out infections such as typhoid and other waterborne diseases.
As a precautionary measure, potable water is being supplied by the Public Works Department (PWD) for drinking and cooking purposes. However, residents continue to rely on borewell water for other daily needs.
Test results are expected by March 28, and authorities have assured that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
