MARGAO: In the two accidents reported in Salcete, two victims succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.
In the first accident reported near Opinion Poll Square on March 9, 59-year-old Atchut Naik sustained serious injuries after being hit by a motorcycle and was rushed to GMC in an unconscious state. His wife who was the pillion rider escaped with minor injuries.
However, the KTM motorcycle rider Bosco Fernandes and the pillion rider Shrikant Pai both sustained leg fractures and were admitted to the GMC.
In the second accident reported at Sao Jose de Areal, 20-year-old motorcyclist Shiom Kashyap, a UP native and currently residing at Sao Jose de Areal succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a scooter while pillion rider Veeru Nishad escaped with minor injuries.
Maina Curtorim Police have booked Jagdish Daivar, a resident of Mandopa, Navelim for rash and negligent driving and for causing death by negligence. Police could not arrest Jagdish as he too is undergoing treatment at Hospicio, Margao.
