20-Year-Old Arrested in Sankhali Over Alleged Sexual Assault of 15-Year-Old; POCSO, Goa Children’s Act Charges Filed

A 20-year-old man, identified as a person of interest in the Parye-Sattari area, was arrested following allegations of sexual assault involving a 15-year-old girl from Sankhali. Local police registered a case under Section 65(1) of the BNS, Section 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act, and Sections 4, 6 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Authorities said the accused was taken into custody after a complaint was received and an initial investigation indicated possible violations of child protection and criminal statutes. The arrested individual is expected to be produced before the appropriate court as the probe continues.

Police confirmed that the minor has been placed under care and that support services are being provided in line with legal and medical guidelines. Investigating officers said they are gathering statements, forensic evidence and other materials to build the case, while urging the public and media to avoid sharing unverified information that could hinder the investigation or compromise the minor’s privacy.

Officials emphasized that child-protection laws will be rigorously enforced and that anyone with relevant information is asked to come forward to assist the investigation.
