PANJIM: A day after convicting Zenito Fernandes of culpable homicide in a gang war case of 2009, a Mapusa court convicted three persons for attempt to murder in the same incident and sentenced them to four years in jail.
Francis D’Souza alias Mirand of Merces, Prasad Kubal of Vasco and Sachin Padgaonkar of St Cruz were sentenced for attempting to murder Zenito. All three had been charged under Sec 307 of the IPC and other sections for rioting at Siridao beach on May 10, 2009 in which two persons had died.
Agassaim Police had booked both groups – Zenito for murder of two persons and Mirand group for attempting to murder Zenito as he was seriously injured in the incident.
The case was investigated by PSI Sunil Gudler, who is under suspension.
