Three Labour Party lawmakers today announced their decision to step down as the MPs expenses scandal in the UK snowballed into a major political crisis afflicting all parties.
Former minister Patricia Hewitt and Children Minister Beverley Hughes said they would not stand at the next election. backbencher David Chaytor, who claimed about 13,000 pounds in expenses for a non-existent mortgage, also said he was quitting.
