4 cops suspended for gambling

PANJIM:Exposing the matka nexus within its own department, the Goa police suspended two head constables and two constables for their involvement in a gambling activity that was recently cracked by the Crime Branch sleuths.

DIG V Renganathan suspended HCs Ulhas Khot and Apa Parab, and PCs Annasaheb Prabhudesai and Sanjay Hullur through an order issued Tuesday. As disciplinary proceedings against them have begun, the four have been asked to report to district reserve lines in Porvorim.
The Crime Branch had recently raided two gambling dens and seized gaming articles worth several lakhs of rupees. A total of 20 persons were arrested amidst allegations that college students would bunk classes to gamble.
During the investigation, it was found that some Panjim police personnel were hand in gloves with the persons running the gambling racket to the detriment of the students.
