Ponda Police arrested four persons on charges of looting a truck driver at Kundaim in the wee hours of Wednesday.
According to Ponda Police, four persons, Yuvraj Yeshwant Korgaonkar of Caranzol, Paresh Chandrakant Gawde, Mithun Gawde and Khush Laxman Naik, all from Priol, intercepted a trailer (GA-03-T-7099), which was proceeding towards Ponda, near Kundaim Petrol Pump.
The accused allegedly assaulted trailer driver Mallapa Sajagiri and fled from the site after snatching cash of Rs 5,000 from the driver.
Police further informed that a passerby took note of one of the motorcycle number used by the accused and informed Ponda Police.
Ponda Police conducted a search and recovered the motorcycle at Bhoma and arrested all the four accused. Ponda Police PSI Sachin Panhalkar is investigating the case.
It may be recalled that this is the second such incident within a month. On December 5, Ponda Police had arrested four jail guards in connection with the highway robbery at Kundaim.
