40 massage parlours in south face shutdown

PANJIM: After shutting down 52 massage parlours and spas in north Goa, the Goa State Pollution Control Board has identified nearly 40 more units in the south, operating without Consent to operate under the Water Act and Air Acts, to which it will issue show cause notices next week.

GSPCB’s technical advisory committee found these were operational in violations of Consent to Operate conditions. The technical advisory committee has framed guidelines for assessment for Consent to Operate for these units.
GSPCB Chairman Jose Manuel Noronha said that the committee has framed certain guidelines, which after massage parlours and spas meet the required norms under the Water and Air Acts, a new consent is processed by the board.
Noronha said that the board about two months back had issued closure notices to around 52 units and now it has identified 40 units in south, notices to whom would be issued by next week.
