SANGUEM: Insisting that the Rivona School Parents Teachers Association (PTA) would continue to demand the withdrawal of admissions to 23 children from a convent, PTA president Domnick Cardozo said a decision would only be taken after a meeting with the school management on Friday.
Following a two-day closure of the school following protests over admission to 23 children from a convent, the agitating parents and PTA members of the Rivona-based school, which has become the centre of controversy, will meet on Friday at 8.30 am.
The PTA members are hopeful that the school management would consider their demand for the withdrawal of admissions to the 23 children of an orphanage in the neighbourhood.
School authorities had also conveyed to the PTA members and agitating parents about the meeting with their superiors. The final decision taken by the school management will be made known to the agitating parents on Friday morning.
Asked what would be their course of action if school authorities decided to continue with admissions granted to the 23 children, PTA President Domnick Cardozo said: “Any decision to be taken by the PTA in this matter will be taken only after discussion with the parents.”
“Another PTA member, Jose Alphonso, too expressed similar feelings. “As we have not heard anything from the authorities as of now, the future course of action to be taken in the matter will be finalized only after Friday’s meeting with the school management.”
Efforts to contact ADEI Sanguem Dinkar Rane, who had been keeping a track on developments at the Rivona School, proved futile as he was not available at his Sanguem office for the entire day and had reportedly gone for a meeting in Margao.
