PANJIM: The Crime branch on Tuesday arrested five people in a gambling raid at Vagator, who were targeting tourists visiting the beach belt.
Police arrested Jagdish Narvare (37) of Madhya Pradesh, Ravindra Gawas (40) of Sanquelim, Nagnath Salkar (49) of Taleigao, Nepu Saha (53) from Jharkhand and Sunil Asnodkar (44) of Mapusa in the raid.
During the raid, a cash of Rs 30,800 in various denominations and strikers used for gambling and other articles were seized. Further investigation is in progress
Police said that upon receiving reliable information, a team headed by Police Inspectors Rahul Parab and Narayan Chimulkar under supervision of DySP Mahesh Gaonkar conducted the raid.
