PANJIM: Five persons were arrested and more than Rs 2 lakh were recovered by the Crime Branch of Goa Police in two separate raids.
Pankaj Kumar Singh, SP Crime, said that in the first gambling raid four persons were arrested. The police recovered more than Rs 1 lakh.
The raid was conducted near Karaswada Industrial Estate in Mapusa where the accused were caught accepting gambling bets. In the second raid, one accused Baptist Fernandes was arrested while accepting bets at near Nanus Bar in Calangute. Gambling articles and cash of Rs 1,14,550 were recovered from him.
