PANJIM: Goa reported another COVID-19 case on Saturday, taking the total to seven positive cases. A man from St Estevam, who had returned from a foreign nation, was tested for the infection and immediately shifted to the COVID-19 hospital.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, in a tweet confirmed that out of 25 samples sent for testing, only one report returned positive. “Total active cases in the State now are seven,” he wrote.

On Saturday, while 25 reports came negative and one positive, five new suspects of COVID-19 were put under hospital isolation. The State has further sent 51 samples for testing while 25 ‘contacts’ have been placed under facility quarantine and six ‘passengers’ under home quarantine.
The media bulletin by the Health Department states that in all, “84 samples are pending for testing, 25 are negative and 59 are awaited.”
At present, a total of 19 patients are in GMC isolation ward, while around 69 are quarantined at other facilities.
The Health Minister also said that eight Goans, who had attended congregation of the Tablighi Jamaat, have tested negative for COVID-19, while one test report is still awaited.
On Friday, a Goan, from Mandrem with travel history to Mozambique and Kenya had tested positive for the virus. He had arrived Goa on March 19 via a domestic flight from Mumbai and self-admitted himself. Later in the evening, the North District Collector directed Hotel Orion in Porvorim to shut for 14 days, while the management and staff were also asked to quarantine themselves for 14 days as the man had stayed there.
