PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) on Saturday declared the results of the students who appeared for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations in Goa. The overall passing percentage was 85.15. Girls achieved an 86.01 pass percentage, whereas boys achieved 84.30 per cent. Interestingly, 144 more boys attended the examinations than girls did.
19, 582 students appeared for the SSC exams conducted from March 31 – April 17, 2014 in 24 centres across Goa. 16,674 students passed the exams, surpassing last years passing percentage of 83.51.
Bhagirath Shetye, secretary of GBSHSE informed that 76 schools achieved more than 95 per cent results. Four government schools and two special schools figured in the merit list. Out of these 76 schools, 38 had also achieved over 95 per cent in 2014.
The Mapusa centre had the highest passing percentage with 90.83 percent, whereas Sakhalim scored the lowest with 72.60 percent.
Shetye said the mark sheets would be made available in schools on May 26, and this information had been conveyed to all higher secondary schools across Goa.
“This year, the board will conduct supplementary examinations for the first time for the students who need improvement in at least two subjects, while the concept of ATKT (allowed to keep terms) has been dissolved from this year,” said Shetye.
There are 1,881 students who are likely to appear for the supplementary examination on June 26. The board has selected four centres, two each in north and south Goa. The north centres will be at Pilar and Mapusa, while the south centres will be at Curchorem and Margao.
Revaluation and verification of answer papers in the presence of parents/guardians and requests for photocopies of answer sheets will done on June 4, but it has to come from the proper channel i.e. from the concerned school, Shetye informed.
