Global debut of Maruti Celerio
PANJIM: Suzuki India Limited and Maruti Suzuki dealer Chowgule Industries Pvt Ltd launched its much awaited compact car, Celerio, with the revolutionary auto gear shift on February 6, at the hands of Mayor of CCP, Surendra Furtado in the presence of Bento Lorena (Deputy Mayor), Rahul Bondre (Deputy Manager Sales Support, Maruti Suzuki), Tejashri Pai, (VP, Chowgule Industries).
The Celerio is offered in six variants, including two with auto gear shift. The Celerio is powered by the high performing K-next petrol engine.

Francon Marine gets 100% results
PANJIM: Francon’s Marine Academy, Bandfoll Chinchinim excelled with 100 per cent result in the All India Exit Examination for Pre-Sea Saloon Rating (CCMC). After an extensive training session of six months, a total of 25 students appeared for the examination approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS). The batch started on July 1, 2013 and appeared for exam on December 21, 2013. The results were announced on January 27. This is the 11th time Francon’s Marine Academy has achieved 100 per cent result. The Managing Director of Francon’s Marine Academy Franco B Martins attributed the performance to the teaching faculty and support staff.

Pravin Verekar awarded PhD
PANJIM: Prof Pravin K Verekar has completed his PhD from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore under the guidance of Prof Jaywant H Arakeri. The title of the thesis is ‘Experiments on rolling sphere submerged in an incompressible fluid.’ Flow visualizations and particle image velocimetry experiments were conducted using Argon-ion continuous laser and high speed digital camera. This study is important in two-phase flows, sediment transport, etc. Prof Verekar is presently working at Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda.
