PANJIM: After a short break, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates and volunteers have resumed visiting homes and in the next two to three weeks will be knocking on all doors to thank the people for their support.
AAP State convener and CM candidate Elvis Gomes, addressing a meeting of party volunteers and candidates in Panjim said, “We will reassure the people through this round of door-to-door visits that we will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them in the continuing mission to change politics and save Goa’s land, culture and heritage.”
Gomes expressed confidence that the people of Goa have overwhelmingly voted for a change as represented by AAP. “Despite enormous amount of money and muscle power deployed by the opponents, it is clear that the people of Goa have silently and overwhelmingly voted for change. The results will be a resounding slap on the face of corrupt politicians of Goa,” Gomes said.
Gomes came down heavily on the Election Commission machinery for its abject failure to curb the use of money in the last couple of days before the polls. “I will say it on record that the Election Commission has miserably failed to stop distribution of money and liquor across Goa on the eve of the elections,” Gomes said. He added that the results will be a huge surprise to all politicians in Goa.
In several cases, AAP candidates had filed complaints of code violations and gross illegalities, Gomes said.
“These complaints will be vigorously pursued under the ‘corrupt practices’ provisions of the Representation of People Act,” he added.
The meeting was also attended by AAP’s national leaders, including Dinesh Waghela and Pankaj Gupta.
