PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Town and Country Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane and the Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik demanding that the 2021 Regional Plan be scrapped and that a comprehensive plan be formulated.

Speaking to mediapersons, AAP Goa State Convenor Amit Palekar said, “We have submitted a memorandum demanding that Sections 17(2) and 39 (A) Amendments to the TCP Act be scrapped. The system of converting lands on a case-to-case basis should be stopped and a new Regional Plan should be brought.”
“These conversions are not for Goans, but for outsiders and the builders,” he said.
Velim MLA Cruz Silva said agricultural fields are getting destroyed because of the conversions.
“The Regional Plan 2021 is over, but the process of a new Regional Plan has not begun yet. But by bringing amendments, agricultural fields are being destroyed. Construction activities have increased, and this has instilled a sense of fear among the Goans. We demand that the process of a new Regional Plan be started,” he said.
Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas said, “I also have orchard land, but I have not gone for conversion. This is a message for everybody.”
There is a need to support it as only this is going to save Goa.”
