PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has directed the Anti Corruption Branch to complete the investigation into the cheating case against former Director of Prosecution Shobha Dhumaskar within six weeks.
A Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice R P Sondurbaldota issued directions after a city based lawyer submitted that though a case of cheating was registered against Dhumaskar on March 24, 2012, the ACB under political pressure was dragging its feet in the investigation.
An FIR was registered against Dhumaskar on directions of the Special Court under the Prevention of Corruption Act after a petition was filed by the same complainant alleging corruption and financial loss to the State exchequer.
The complaint pertains to a 76 square metre flat at ‘Mutual Apartments’ leased by the Director of Prosecution in a manner showing undue favouritism and causing loss to the State exchequer.
