PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that he had ordered an inquiry into the Bicholim sexual assault case soon after the news was published in the media.
“Immediately as the news came out, I asked for an inquiry. When I spoke to the DGP he was saying that sexual assault was not part of the initial complaint,” the chief minister said, adding that he was anyway waiting for the report and action would be taken after that.
“We will sensitize the police, as well as punish them. But we cannot just punish them because the news has been reported,” he told the House, adding that they would inquire into it and report to the House.
Parrikar was answering a question from BJP MLA Vishnu Wagh who wanted to know what action was taken in the Bicholim sexual assault.
In a shameful and perverse act, the father had shown his daughters a porn clip and asked them to perform oral sex with him before sexually abusing one in front of the other.
The police who viewed the clip, which was a crucial piece of evidence, are accused of deleting the same and returning the phone while at the same time refusing to register the complaint.
They also reportedly told the wife that this was a family issue and they would settle it.
