MARGAO: Taking cognizance over the alleged incident wherein the police was called to take away the Attorney of Nagoa Comunidade John Philip Pereira from the office of South Goa Comunidade Administrator, comunidade members from South Goa have strongly condemned the dictatorial attitude of the Administrator Chandrakant Shetkar towards elected committee members and have urged the Collector to initiate disciplinary action him.
John Philip Pereira has lodged complaints with both the district Collector N D Agrawal as well as the Margao police over the October 22 episode in the office of the Administrator.
When contacted, Margao PI Sudesh Naik said the Margao police had brought John Philip Pereira to the police station after the administrator told to take him away from the office. PI Naik, however, maintained that Pereira was not arrested by the police, but received his complaint lodged against the administrator.
Pereira has claimed that he had gone to meet the administrator to discuss some urgent pending matters pertaining to the Comunidade of Nagoa, which has been non-functioning since the last many months. “After explaining, the administrator told me to come after one month, but when I insisted that the matter is urgent, he told me to leave the office. When I told the him that he cannot ask him to leave the office since the office partly belongs to his comunidade, he, on the pretext that I was raising my voice, phoned the police and told them to take me away for causing nuisance,” Pereira said in his complaint, while demanding action.
