Activist raises concern over STP water release into Sal

MARGAO: Social activist Royla Fernandes and villagers from Benaulim have raised concern with regard to the treated water from the proposed Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of Colva plans to release into the River Sal at the Gram Sabha on Sunday.

Earlier, Royla had managed to raise awareness about the issue through social media. However, the panchayat body has clarified that they are not aware about the issue, and plans to release treated sewage water from the STP into the River. 

Royla has stated that there are plans to discharge the sewage water from the STP into the River Sal for which the pipes are already laid down. 

“The river Sal is already being polluted due to release of sewage water, and now there are plans to discharge treated water from the STP into the river, as a result it will further pollute the river Sal”, she stated
