PANJIM: A host of Goa Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders including Swati Kerkar, Pratibha Borkar, Priya Rathod, Rajendra Kakodkar, Mario Pinto and Jayesh Shetgaonkar demanded immediate resignation of the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant for the deaths of hundreds due to COVID-19 mismanagement.

On a day the Goa Trinamool Congress (TMC) released the ‘People’s charge sheet’ to highlight the sufferings of the people of Goa due to misgovernment of the BJP in the State, the party’s stand was affirmed by former Goa Governor and current Meghalaya Govenori Satyapal Malik, who in an interview to India Today said, ‘There was corruption in Goa government in the handling of everything. That is why I was removed.’
Malik further added, “I was removed after I exposed corruption. People who were involved in corruption told the Prime Minister that there was no such thing.”
Lashing out at the BJP government, TMC’s leader in the Rajya Sabha, Derek O’Brien said, “A Governor appointed by the BJP has made an explosive statement that the Goa government and the Chief Minister of Goa run a corrupt government in every sphere, whether it was roads or COVID-19. Trinamool demands the resignation of the CM in the next 72 hours and a judicial enquiry with a retired Supreme Court judge into all the corruption allegations.”
Minutes later, TMC national vice president Luizinho Faleiro said, “The cat is out of the bag. Today, we released the ‘People’s charge sheet’ against the Goa government and made a clear case that there was total mismanagement during the COVID-19 second wave and today itself Governor Satyapal Malik has corroborated whatever we mentioned in the charge sheet.”

Leader of Opposition follow suits
PANJIM: Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat on Monday demanded immediate resignation of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant following Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik’s charge that there was corruption in everything that Goa government did.
Kamat in tweet said, “Governor Satya Pal Malik ji always stood for the people of Goa. He spoke the truth and completely exposed corrupt @BJP4Goa @GovtofGoa, @goacm has no moral right to continue in power after revelations made by a Constitutional Head. @DrPramodPSawant must resign immediately.
Congress president Girish Chodankar said, “Thank you Governor Satya Pal Malik ji. Goa will always remain indebted to you for your candid admission of corrupt regime of @BJP4Goa @goacm @PramodGoa. U have vindicated @INCGoa’s charge of BJP making “Business for people’s sickness” during COVID pandemic. @PMOIndia.”
