VALPOI: The State government has constituted an ad-hoc committee to resolve the issue of Sateri Ajoba Devasthan at Keri Sattari, where religious rituals have been stopped 10 years ago due to some differences between four groups of mahajans.
This ad-hoc committee will work for one year to hold election and carry out temporary repair works on the temple building.
The Sattari mamlatdar who is the administrator of the Devasthan had stopped all the activities fearing law and order problem in the area, after dispute broke out among four groups of Mahajans over cultural rights in conducting temple activities.
Recently, some Mahajans had submitted a memorandum to Sattari mamlatdar to look into the matter and in pursuance of which, a meeting was convened to sort out the issue. Appointment of ad-hoc committee to resolve this issue was one of the decisions finalised in the meeting.
Representatives from all the Mahajan groups are nominated in the ad-hoc committee. The committee members are Rajaram Majik (president), Laxman Gawas (vice president), Raosaheb Rane (attorney), Adv Bhikaji Gawas (joint attorney), Krishna Gawas (secretary), Laxman Majik (joint secretary), Mahadev Gawas (treasurer) and Rajendra Gawas (joint treasurer).
Rajaram Majik has welcomed the decision to nominate the committee to sort out the issue. It was the devotees’ demand for the last couple of years to restart daily rituals at the temple. Meanwhile, many devotees have welcomed the government’s decision to restart rituals at the temple.
