PANJIM: Adani Mormugao Port Terminal Pvt Ltd, which operates the mechanized coal/coke handling terminal, has refuted all charges of causing pollution, levied against it by the Goa State Pollution Control Board, and argued that its terminal operates in the ‘most professional and eco-friendly manner’.
GSPCB had on December 30 issued a show cause notice to Adani as to why its unit’s ‘consent to operate’ at MPT should not be revoked or cancelled for operating the terminal and causing environmental pollution in the vicinity. The show cause notice was answerable within seven days.
In its reply, Adani has denied all the allegations, stating that it has neither violated any of the terms and conditions of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 nor operated the terminal at MPT contrary to the Consent to Operate issued by the Board.
