Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command Vice Admiral

Tuesday, after assuming command as the commanding-in-chief, Western
Naval Command.
During his two-day visit to the State, Vice Admiral Bhasin will oversee
Naval operational preparedness and will interact with the large naval
and defence civilian community.
Having specialized in Navigation and Aircraft Direction, the Admiral
has served extensively at sea and has had the privilege of
commissioning two frontline ships as Commanding Officer, the Missile
Corvette INS Khukri and the Guided Missile Destroyer INS Mumbai.
He has also commanded INS Ranjit and has been the Fleet Operations
Officer of the Western Fleet.
As a Flag Officer, he has been the Assistant Chief of Personnel (HRD)
at Naval Headquarters, Chief of Staff Western Naval Command, Flag
Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, the Director General of Project
Seabird (overseeing the development of the Karwar Naval Base) and the
Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff.
Prior to assuming charge as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief,
Western Naval Command, he was the Commandant of the prestigious
National Defence College, New Delhi.
He is a graduate of the United States Naval War College and the College
of Naval Warfare, Mumbai.
For distinguished services of an exceptional order, the Admiral has
been awarded with the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2003 and Ati Vishisht Seva
Medal in 2006.
