PANJIM: President of the Aldona Comunidade, Melwyn Fernandes, on Wednesday stated that he has received numerous calls from people requesting that no action be taken against the alleged illegal houses built on Comunidade property, but he is determined to ensure that all 60 houses constructed on Comunidade land are demolished.

“There is land at Sainagar and Ramtollem. There are at least 60 illegal structures. I had instructed them to follow the legal procedure three years ago, but they did nothing. When we visited the sites on the Administrator’s direction to identify the houses, we were threatened,” he said.
“I am acting according to what the Gaonkar wants. No politician should interfere in this matter, or we will involve them and file contempt petitions before the Supreme Court. I will ensure that all 60 houses are demolished as per the Supreme Court order,”
he added.
