PORVORIM: A disruption in telephone facilities in parts of Aldona has severely inconvenienced residents.
Telephone facilities in Khoirut-Aldona area have been out of order after some miscreants stole underground telephone cables at Khoirut.
Speaking to Herald, a resident said he had registered complaints with the telephone exchange in Aldona, but in vain.
When contacted, Divisional Engineer of Telephone Exchange, Mapusa, M R Potdar said some person stole about 65 metres (300 pairs) of jelly field cable, due to which the telephones ha gone dead.
“We have already registered the complaint with Mapusa Police and have also placed an order for the cables with the Bambolim depot,” informed Potdar.
“Once we receive the cable, we will start digging work and lay the cable and complete the work within eight days. Since the area is rocky, the digging work will take time,” added Potdar.
