MARGAO: Goa Vikas Party (GVP) supremo Mickky Pacheco said Environment Minister Alina Saldanha should resign from the Parrikar Cabinet if the government fails to stop pursuing Mopa.
Speaking to Herald, Mickky said he has told convenor of Goans for Dabolim Only Fr Eremito Rebello that Alina Saldanha will have to oppose Mopa at the Cabinet meeting by moving a dissent note. “If required, I will draft the dissent note and let Alina move the note before the Cabinet he said, adding “Alina will have to quit the Parrikar Cabinet if the government still goes ahead with Mopa”.
The Nuvem legislator pointed out that while he has offered full support to the movement against Mopa airport, he has reminded Fr Rebello of his speech at the funeral of late Matanhy Saldanha that his wife would continue his (Matanhy’s) legacy. “Matanhy had never supported Mopa. In fact, he had vehemently opposed Mopa. It’s time now for his wife Alina to take a call on the issue”, Mickky asserted.
Replying to a question, Pacheco said it would make no sense if people are brought on the streets and ministers and MLAs continue to support the government which is vigorously pursuing Mopa airport.
