The deputy Sarpanch of Ambelim Village Panchayat, Denica Correia has been voted out of office in a no confidence motion on Wednesday.
At the meeting held this morning, the motion tabled against Correia was carried out by 4-0 votes.
Incidentally, the no trust motion against the deputy sarpanch was tabled by the ruling body led by Sarpanch Cruz Silva.
The four signatories to the motion, Cruz Silva, Delia D’Silva, S D’Silva and Rosario Fernandes had charged the deputy sarpanch for not cooperating with the sarpanch and other members. Denica and two other members were conspicuous by their absence at today’s meeting.
Sources say the decision to table a no confidence motion by the ruling group against the deputy sapranch is the fall out of the recent Zilla Panchayat elections. Sarpanch Cruz had unsuccessfully contested the Zilla Panchayat polls from Velim constituency.
