In its continuous efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs in Goa, the Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of Goa Police struck a major blow to the drug network by arresting a Cameroon national, Promise Umeh, and seizing 13 grams of ecstasy powder worth approximately Rs 1,30,000. Notably, the accused had earlier been arrested by the ANC in 2024 with Charas, Methamphetamine, Cocaine and other drugs.
The accused was recently released on conditional bail in July this year. ANC sleuths stated that they had kept a close watch on his moments after a letter appeared in the O Heraldo requesting the ANC SP Sunita Sawant to keep a watch on the nefarious drug trade flourishing in Sodiem Siolim and maintaining close vigil on his movements, the officers discovered that he had resumed drug trafficking activities. Acting on specific intelligence, the team apprehended him red-handed at Siolim, behind St. Anthony Church, while he attempted to deliver the contraband to a prospective customer.
Sources is the police state that the alleged accused gave the cops a hard time and tried to escape through the water-logged fields and finally nabbed The successful raid was led by PSI Dindayal Redkar and staff under the supervision of PI Mira D’Silva.
