A tragic accident was reported at Chorla Ghat after an Andhra Pradesh–registered 18-wheeler truck carrying plywood to Goa veered off the road and plunged into a forested area.
According to officials, the driver got trapped inside the mangled vehicle and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The cleaner, who sustained injuries in the crash, was rescued and shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) for treatment.

Personnel from the Valpoi Fire Station later reached the spot and undertook a recovery operation to retrieve the driver’s body from the wreckage.
Further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident at the ghat stretch, which is known for its sharp turns and challenging terrain.
