MAPUSA: The Anjuna-Caisua Village Panchayat renovated the Hindu crematorium which will cater to the wards falling in the southern part of the village. The panchayat also renovated the fish-cum-vegetable market.
Sarpanch Patrick Savio said the crematorium was in a very bad shape so the panchayat developed it in the interest of the villagers.
“This is the third Hindu crematorium in the village and will cater to the people from South Anjuna. We carried out the renovation works through panchayat funds to the tune of Rs 19 lakh. We have put pavers, built a room, set up concrete pillars and a shed. It has been handed over to the temple committee for usage and further maintenance,” Savio said.
“People were sitting on the road and selling fish and other produce as the market was in a bad shape. We have renovated the fish market and also plan to include vegetable vendors there. We are in the process of getting electricity and water connection. Once that is done we will open the market to the vendors for use,” he added.
