MAPUSA: Anjuna Police have launched a crackdown on landlords for not compiling with the mandatory tenant verification process and getting their tenants verified.
On Tuesday, they had identified around 40 such people residing on rent or as tenants in the jurisdiction of Siolim.
Migrant labourers were taken for verification and those who were found without the mandatory registration were asked to fill the tenant verification form and submit their documents at the earliest.
Anjuna PI Navlesh Dessai informed that they have started the tenant verification drive to encourage those individuals who have not verified their tenants and servants with the local police station.
“During this door-to-door checking, some of the tenants were found residing without police verification. Neither they, nor their property owners bothered to furnish details of tenants to the local police station. On the first day itself we have identified around 40 persons who are tenants or servants. Initially we made ten to fill the form and later in the day the other 30 owners came to the police station to produce the tenant verification form filled by them,” Dessai said.
