Anti-Corruption court summons SP George

PANJIM: The Special Court under the Prevention of Corruption Act has summoned Anti-Corruption Branch’s (ACB) Superintendent of Police Bosco George to appear before it on February 4 in connection with a petition filed by a lawyer-activist seeking directions to ACB to register First Information Report against Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Rajendra Arlekar in the disproportionate assets case.
The officer has been asked to appear along with a reply with regards to the case. Advocate Aires Rodrigues, in his petition before Judge Anuja Prabhduesai also sought that ACB be directed to speedily investigate the case in accordance with law.
The complainant has alleged that the Speaker had purchased 500 sq mtrs plot at Porvorim at a cost of Rs 72 lakh, which was clearly disproportionate to his last known source of income.
He filed a complaint with the ACB last week to which he was asked to submit documents establishing his allegations.
