PANJIM: The women police station on Sunday busted a high-profile prostitution racket that was being disguised as spa and massage parlour in Campal Panjim.
Five girls from Goa, Mizoram, Kolkata and Andhra Pradesh, all major in age were rescued during the raid, which was headed by Crime Branch chief Kartik Kashyap.
Four persons Riyazddin Ahmed (23), from Delhi and Ganesh Pulreddy (33) from Andhra Pradesh, both employed as workers; Nagaland-native Vimechelli Medom (23) working as manager and a bouncer from Mumbai Mohan Kumar Sau alias Suresh Naik have been arrested under various sections of the Immoral (Traffic) Prevention Act. All of them stayed at different residences at Taleigao and Bhatlem.
The raid was based on a tip-off that the girls, who were employed as beauticians and masseurs were being exploited as commercial sex workers under the garb of spa and massage parlour. The premise has been sealed for any activity until further orders from the concerned authorities even as police have sought details of its license.
The police have launched a manhunt to trace the owner of the parlour, who is most likely to be booked for allowing carrying out the illegal trade. The rescued girls have been sent to the Protective Home at Merces where their statements would be recorded during an inquiry by a magistrate.
The accused will be produced before a court for police remand on Monday which will follow their interrogation.
