CORTALIM: Sancoale Zilla Parishad member Aparna Naik has expressed confidence of taking over the reigns of South Goa Zilla Parishad chairperson when the term of the incumbent Nelly Rodrigues ends later this month.
Naik said as per the understanding reached, Rodrigues was the chairperson for one year while she would complete the remaining term.
Asked whether she expected any hitch for smooth take over, Naik said there could be no problem whatsoever, since all the stakeholders had agreed and accepted the deal reached.
To a question as what would be her (Naik’s) stand if Rodrigues refuses to step down as is reported in a section of the press where the members want her (Rodrigues) to continue, Naik maintained that it would be for the ZP members to decide on the issue.
“Nevertheless, there is still time for my tenure to start,” Naik told Herald.
