Applications invited for varsity project

The University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, has sponsored a project titled ‘The Historical Interface: Human World and Environment on the Western Coast of India (with special reference to Goa and Coastal Karnataka)’ to the Goa University.
The project work is for a period of five months at the Department of History of the varsity. GU has now invited applications from eligible candidates for “Project Fellow’ to work on the same. The candidates are required to have a second class MA degree in History or related subject with a minimum of 55 per cent marks. A salary of Rs 8,000 pm will be paid during the period of the project work.
Those interested may send their application and attested copies of mark sheets/certificates to Dr N Shyam Bhat, Principal Investigator, Department of History, GU, Taleigao Plateau, Goa- 403 206 by post so as to reach the varsity on or before October 22, 2010. The candidates eligible to attend the interview will be communicated separately. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
Similarly, the varsity has called for applications for one post of Research Fellowship under UGC scheme ‘Research Fellowship in Sciences for Meritorious’ to carry out research leading to PhD degree in Marine Science.
Again, candidates with 55 per cent marks in MSc in Marine Science, Physical Oceanography, Marine Chemistry, Marine Biology, Marine Geology, Environmental Science, Life Sciences, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Geology are eligible to apply.
Preference will be given to NET/SET qualified candidates. The position is temporary for one year, extendable to another year upon satisfactory performance.
Those who are interested may appear for interview on October 18, 2010, at 3 pm in the office of the Head of the Department of Marine Science along with bio-data and other relevant documents.
