The Goa Legislative Assembly today passed the Goa Appropriation Bill of Rs 6877.35 cr for the next seven months even as Chief Minister Digambar Kamat painted a rosy picture of the State’s financial position.
Speaking after tabling the Goa Appropriation Bill 2010, Kamat said the revenue collection for the last four months had been outstanding compared to the past years.
“The commercial taxes collected so far amounted to Rs 518 crore. The Excise collected Rs 37 crore, the Transport Department collected Rs 59 crore while royalty from mining collected so far amounted to Rs 268 crore apart from others”, Kamat stated.
The chief minister who also holds the finance portfolio, said that no project in any constituency will be stalled for lack of funds.
“We will see to it that there is development. All constituencies be it those of the ruling legislators or Opposition would be treated as equal”, he said adding “people should not suffer due to any differences”.
