Arunachal, J&K confirm participation

The five-day food and cultural festival which will be held in February will see the participation of Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir among others as the two states have confirmed their participation.

PANJIM:  The five-day food and cultural festival which will be held in February will see the participation of Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir among others as the two states have confirmed their participation.

Officials in the tourism department said that Arunachal Pradesh will send a delegation of around 50 participants, who will display an array of sumptuous ethnic food, folk dances, art and craft and a splash of their unique North Eastern culture. Similarly Jammu and Kashmir will send a 20-member delegation.

“This is a big boost for the food and cultural festival which is being revived after more than five years,” said tourism department official, adding that a confirmation is awaited from some other neighbouring States.

This official said that the press conferences held in Mumbai and Delhi to promote both the Goa Carnival and the Food and Cultural festival received an overwhelming response and wide publicity.

“Most of the stalls have already been booked and close to 50 forms have already been received for participation in the cooking contest.

The tourism department has recorded a huge response to the float parade for carnival. Even though today (Monday) was the last day for submission of entries, the department officials said that submissions of entries will be permitted till the parade day.
