Assam Records 84.42% Voting Till 5 PM, Surpasses 2021 Poll Turnout; Kerala at 75.01%

Polling witnessed strong momentum across Assam, Kerala and Puducherry on Thursday, with voter turnout figures indicating enthusiastic participation by the evening.

Among the three regions, Puducherry recorded the highest turnout at 86.92 per cent, followed by Assam at 84.42 per cent and Kerala at 75.01 per cent, according to official data.

Assam surpasses 2021 turnout

Assam crossed its 2021 Assembly election turnout by 5 pm, registering 84.42 per cent voting across all 126 constituencies compared to 82.04 per cent in the previous polls. The BJP-led NDA is seeking a third straight term, while Congress is attempting a comeback after ten years. Dalgaon saw the highest turnout at 94.57 per cent, while Amri recorded the lowest at 70.40 per cent.

Kerala and Puducherry see steady polling

In Kerala, polling for all 140 Assembly seats concluded at 6 pm with voters in queues allowed to cast ballots after receiving tokens. The state registered 75.01 per cent turnout by 5 pm, slightly above the 74.06 per cent recorded in 2021.

Meanwhile, Puducherry’s 30 Assembly constituencies recorded the highest participation among the three, with turnout crossing 86 per cent. The NDA is seeking to retain power, while the Congress-led opposition is hoping to regain control of the Union Territory.
