MARGAO: Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado inaugurated the press room for the media based in South Goa at the South Goa District Collectorate.
The press room was inaugurated in the presence of District Collector, N D Agrawal, Director of Information Swapnil Naik and other officials of Information Department, besides members of the media.
In his address, the Fisheries Minister underlined the need to provide all media facilities in the Press Room on the lines of Panjim. He said he would request the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to provide a spacious room to house the press room in the District Collectorate.
In his address, president of South Goa Journalists Association, Soiru Komarpant, highlighted the problems faced by journalists based in South Goa. He demanded that the government depute representatives of the Information Department to address the genuine grievances of the journalists.
The District Collector and the Director of Information also spoke.
Earlier in the day, the South Goa Journalists Association observed Tilak Jayanti at the Margao press room by paying rich tributes to Bal Gangadhar Tilak.
