PANJIM: Stepping up the ante against Health Minister, Panjim BJP MLA Atanasio Babush Monserrate launched yet another stinging attack against the Health Minister (HM) and has called for a CBI inquiry into the functioning of Goa Medical College (GMC) and the health department.

Demanding that the Chief Minister take over the Health Department from incumbent minister Vishwajit Rane, Babush accused Rane of given preferential treatment given to patients from Valpoi at GMC.  He gave the example of how a Covid patient from Valpoi was given a bed at GMC which was occupied by a non-Valpoi but Goan COVID patient, who was forced to sleep on the floor.

He said a HM should act as a bridge between the government and the hospital but Rane has been dictating terms to even the GMC dean and quipped that the post of Dean should be removed if Rane is acting like the doctor-in-charge.
