MARGAO: NGO Bailancho Ekvott on Wednesday organised a meeting at Lohia Maidan, Margao to express its solidarity and support to Betalbatim gang-rape victim.
The members lit candles at the Lohia Memorial and called for making Goa a safe place for women and children.
Auda Viegas of Bailancho Ekvott said, “Today is a day to say goodbye to “mhaka kidyaak podla”. We have to stop the indifference between migrants and Goans when it comes to crimes against women and children”.
She said Goans have to support the people who are in trouble and make Goa safe for women and children.
“There is a need to check on the criminal records of the people while renting our houses and hotel rooms to such persons”, urged the Bailancho Saad Convenor.
Auda congratulated the police for doing a commendable job in arresting the Betalbatim gang-rape accused.
