PANJIM: The Congress party’s election manifesto debars non-Goans and non-agriculturists from buying agricultural properties in Goa.

Ramakant Khalap said the real estate boom has been a major concern for the State and as such thrust is given to ensure that land is being saved and preserved for posterity.

He said Congress has promised a law, if elected, that would made it mandatory for any individual to have 25 years of domicile to enable him to buy agriculture property if he is a farmer.

“Even a farmer from other States won’t be allowed to buy property in Goa”, he said adding the party also intends to penalise local farmers who keep their lands fallow.
