PANJIM: In a major decision, Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) on Saturday resolved that its leader, Subhash Velingkar, should enter electoral politics by contesting the elections on the Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) ticket.
BBSM leader Uday Bhembre said the resolution to this effect was taken on Saturday during a core committee meeting.
GSM, a party which he has been mentoring, is the right forum for him to contest the elections, Bhembre said, adding that Velingkar should be the face of GSM.
After splitting with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and also hurt by the stand taken by Rashtraiya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and BJP on the medium of instruction (MoI) issue, Velingkar, former RSS Goa chief, had floated GSM, a purely political outfit. While mentoring the party, Velingkar had specified that he would not contest elections.
