The Belgaum police on Tuesday descended in a pub at Colva along with two of the woman accused in drugs cases in order to investigate the link between suspended Goa police head constable Arun Dessai and the other accused.
The police team made their presence felt at the pub where one of the woman accused was working earlier. They recorded the statement of the owner in this connection. The visit by the Belgaum police to Colva assumes significance given that the suspended head constable was earlier posted at the Colva police station. The police are trying to find out whether the remaining accused came in contact with the suspended cop during his posting in Colva.

The police officer who accompanied the accused persons later told newsmen that the team had come down to Goa to investigate the drugs case. He said investigations into the case are continuing.
Sources said the team was also scheduled to visit Khareband area, besides the Goa Medical College hospital, Bambolim to verify certain facts that have come to light during the investigations.
The police team is believed to have later headed back to Belgaum since the remand period of the two accused woman expires on Wednesday.
The Belgaum police had last week arrested the five persons, including Head Constable Arun Desai and had claimed to have seized drugs worth Rs 26 lakhs in the international market.
The Goa Police had deputed Deputy Superintendent of Police Mahesh Gaonkar in connection with the case and who is believed to have recorded the statement of Arun Desai and others as part of the inquiry.
