HONDA: The government may boast of its hundred days in office and harp on development it has done but these poor inhabitants of Dhanagar waddo in Bhuipal, Honda in Poriem constituency are crying for a tar road in their village for the last 60 years.
We may have been freed from the foreign yoke of the Portuguese rule six decades ago but what is painful is that the elected representatives have neglected their very own till date, said villagers.
This waddo is possibly the only socially backward area considering Honda’s development in industrial and other fields.
There are seven houses belonging to the shepherd (Dhanagar) community and the inhabitants of this area are patiently waiting for a road to connect to the village for over the last six decades.
Children of this Dhangar community find it difficult to go to school in the absence of a proper road especially during the monsoons. The little ones have to cross through a nullah to go to school which often gets flooded in the rains putting their lives at a risk.
The panchayat too has never made any efforts or passed a resolution to build a tar road in this area, said villagers.
