PANJIM: The BJP national executive that met for the first time post-COVID-19, on Sunday, expressed confidence of party coming back to power under Dr Pramod Sawant’s leadership in the 2022 Goa Assembly elections.
The meeting held in hybrid format was attended by State Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Shripad Naik, BJP State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar, organisation secretary Satish Dhond and special invitee of the executive committee Mauvin Godinho and Vishwajit Rane.

Addressing media persons after the meeting, Tanavade said the national executive is confident that party will win in all five States – Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Punjab.
“National leaders are confident that BJP in Goa will win the 2022 elections with complete majority. We too have assured them that party will form the next government in Goa with majority,” Tanavade said.
Tanavade and the Chief Minister informed the national executive that the party will win 2022 election with complete majority.
He said following the national executive, all the States are directed to hold their State Executive Committee meetings before November 22, District Committee meetings before December 6 and Mandal or block committees to meet before December 20, to chalk out strategies for polls and further expansion of the party.
When asked whether any discussion was held over entry of Trinamool Congress party into Goa, Tanavade replied in negative.
“In our national executive, we only deliberate on how to strengthen our party across India,” he said.
The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and party national president J P Nadda, wherein it set fresh targets for its expansion in States where it is yet to emerge as an alternative and in poll-bound States.
The meeting resolved to form booth committees, where they don’t exist, by December 25, page committees by April 6 next year, and institutionalisation of “Mann Ki Baat” at the booth level by May 2022.
Minister and special invitee of the national executive Mauvin Godinho said the Centre is keeping close eye on the functioning of the State party organisation and is trying to understand the loopholes and weaknesses.
He said a propaganda spread against BJP of being anti-minority is weeded out with recent meeting of Prime Minister with Pope Francis, the head of Vatican State.
He said the Pope has even accepted the invite of Prime Minister and has said that he is looking forward to visiting India.
