BJP dismisses Cong claim on NSA

MARGAO: BJP leader Sharmad Pai Raiturkar on Monday dismissed Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao’s claim that the National Security Act (NSA) has been invoked in South Goa only to hamper the people’s move, who are providing relief in times of pandemic and also to hamper the public hearing in Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP).

Briefing the media persons, Sharmad said, “Congress workers were not seen anywhere during the pandemic providing any relief to the people or their relatives and asserted that it was invoked because there were cases registered under NSA before the South Goa Collector.”

“BJP volunteers have been present in every constituency helping people by providing them ambulance or getting them admitted in the hospital while not a single Congress worker was seen this type of work,” he said while dismissing the charge that it is invoked to thwart the public hearing on CZMP.

Sharmad said, “When a youth from Navelim was assaulted there was a former councilor who visited the police station to get the duo released and added that the Congress was supporting these anti social elements.”

“Actually going by what happened at the Congress meeting a couple of days back, the Congress needs to have Congress Security Act in place,” he said while lamenting that the prices of most things have increased tremendously.

He argued that the price rise is a global phenomenon and the BJP has nothing to do with it.
