MAPUSA: While Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo has almost strengthened her grip on Assagao panchayat, Hanumant Govekar is all set to be the sarpanch once again, say sources. On the other hand, the BJP in a bid to secure its hold on Anjuna-Caisuva panchayat has moved its panch members to undisclosed locations out of the state.

They are set to return on Monday and proceed directly to elect their sarpanch, who is expected to be a new face. As per sources, the ruling party has also flexed its money power to lure panch members to its side.
Hanumant Govekar is the only panch member from the last term to have successfully contested the election from Assagao; the other six are new faces. Delilah Lobo was in full control of the panchayat a couple of days ago. However, the BJP seems to have turned the tide on its side.
