The BJP has decided to launch nationwide protest from Monday against petrol and diesel hike announced by the government on Friday.
Claiming that current hike in diesel and petrol will further make life difficult for common man who is already hassled by persisted price rise in all essential commodities during last two years the BJP State President Laxmikant Parsekar, said party will protest against the price hike in diesel and petrol.
He was addressing a press conference on Saturday here.
The State unit of the BJP will have stage protest at Panjim jetty on Monday, he said. Action against culprits — The government’s decision to float fresh tenders for awarding contract for High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) is BJP’s victory, claimed Parsekar. He said right from the beginning the party had raised issue of HSRP on all forums.
‘‘The issue was raised on the floor of the House, pamphlets were distributed among people to create awareness. The government then appointed a committee to look into alleged irregularities in the award of the contract to Shimnit Utsch and the findings of the committee confirmed our allegations,” he claimed.
He demanded that action should be taken against all those involved in the manipulating the tender.
The BJP had levelled allegations against Transport Director Sandeep Jacques during whose tenure was awarded to the controversial Shimnit Utsch India Pvt Ltd.
